ZBrush. Like Play-Doh molds for digital artists

Digital imagery software is expanding every day and seems at times miracle-laden. ZBrush is one digital sculpting tool that combines 3D/2.5D modeling, texturing and painting. It uses a proprietary "pixol" technology which stores lighting, color, material, and depth information for all objects on the screen and it's capabilities are eye-popping. You can purchase brushes to "paint" readymade characters into amazing scenes in ZBrush. A ZBrush license is comparable in price to the old Adobe software--not cheap but for someone dedicated to the art perhaps worth the price. A license runs between $400-700 with academic pricing.
