A Message from Sketchy Miami

Call for artists...

I am writing to tell you about our community art project called Sketchy Miami. The goal of the project is simple: To create a portrait of every person in the city. The underlying aim is to facilitate direct connection between Miami artists and the general public through portraiture. Here's how it works:

  • People submit photos to the Sketchy Miami Photo Gallery (open to one and all)
  • Miami artists (students, professionals, amateurs) peruse the gallery and create portraits based on the photos
  • The finished portraits (we call them Sketchys) appear on the homepage of sketchymiami.com
Since we launched this project in June, hundreds of Miami artists have taken part online and at our regular events and close to 1,000 people have submitted photos. The project has been featured by the Miami Herald, WLRN, the Miami New Times, Design Boom, Flavor Pill, and other outlets as a fun way for artists to engage directly with people in their community.

Here are a few Sketchy Miami artists you should check out below (words don't do it justice) at sketchymiami.com
