1. If you emailed me a pdf or raster (jpg/tiff/ping) for the three Illustrator assignments (Depth Illustration/Logo/Packaging) please make sure you have your final AI file loaded on the Course Server as well (in the server 8 drop box with your name) so I can check your vector paths in the original file if needed.
2. I am eliminating the second graded InDesign assignment (B-#9) to give you more time to work on the concert poster and self promo. Your first introductory assignment (to complete the 3-part print tutorial on the blog and recreate that 4-page layout with the Japanese sun/girl blowing bubbles) will take this assignment's place and earn you the 5 points instead (due Nov. 22 end of class).
You still need to create a grid template for your own magazine of choice (ID assignmt A-#8) but you are no longer required to go the second step and create the actual article unless you want to earn extra credit. In other words your remaining assignments for the term look like this:
Introductory Practice Exercise: Create an InDesign image using previous artwork completed for this or another class with typography (one word, one sentence, one paragraph, one slogan, or one quote). Due no later than this Friday by 5pm, via email. Pass/Fail - If you create something in the MECHANOMOPHIC theme for the student competition you'll earn up to 2 extra credit points.
InDesign Assignment A (#8) "Grid"– recreate a template of your choice of magazine's grid pattern in InDesign using guidelines and shapes only. Turn this in with the magazine or copies of articles. See the Learning Module Summary Sheet on the server for details. Due Nov. 29 at the latest.
InDesign Assignment B (#9) - Compete the 3-part tutorial at http://vishaldawda.wordpress.com/2009/08/24/magazine-design-tutorial/ Inform me when your layout is finished and I will review it on-screen with you individually for a grade. (5 Points) Due Nov. 22/end of class. Feel free to adapt (and improve upon) the tutorial designer's original design to boost your grade!
InDesign Assignment C (#10) Concert Poster due Dec. 1 at the latest (see the Learning Module Summary Sheet on the server for the details of this assignment).
FINAL PROJECT- Self-Promo - Due on or before Dec. 10. (See the Learning Module Summary Sheet on the server for the details of this assignment).
3. Finally, don't forget you have readings from the textbook to keep up with (refer to the Learning Module Summary Sheet on the server or on Blackboard). You will have a quiz to take November 29 but will have an opportunity starting Monday to opt out of it if you again do the vocabulary terms that will be coming your way.
That's all. Then you're done.
