DOWNLOADING FONTS

There are several resource on the Web for free fonts that you can use in your designs. A few of my favorites are:

When you find a font you like just choose the "download" option on the website. It will save the font to your PC (usually in the Downloads folder or on the Desktop) as a zip file. You must then double-click the zip file, which creates a folder. Open the folder and select all the type files (bold, regular, italic, etc.) and do a command-O to open them all.

The font installer should open dialogue boxes showing you the font(s). Click each install button and the fonts should now be available from any program on your PC.

JUST REMEMBER!! Someone else (like me) you send your Adobe Creative file to will probably not have that unique font on THEIR computer, so always send the font folder along with your artwork so the recipient can install it on their PC as well.

(If you convert to a JPG, however, the file will be rasterized and the font not required on someone else's PC)

ANOTHER USEFUL TYPE TOOL
ON YOUR MAC IS FONTBOOK

This little application can be opened from the applications
folder and will show you an image of every font on your
PC so you know what they look like.
